Amanda | Murfreesboro Birth Photographer

As a newborn photographer, I get to hear a lot of birth stories.  Every woman’s experience is different.  No matter what the original plans are, the way each baby makes it’s way into this world is unique.  I’ve had new mothers tell me they were induced and never dilated, which leads to a c-section.  I’ve had others who were able to deliver vaginally with an epidural.  It seems that very few go the natural route these days, but I’ve met and admired a few who bravely choose to do so.  I’ve even met a new mother who had planned on delivering naturally, at home, who’s labor was so very quick the midwife never made it and her husband had to catch the baby.  You better believe he is one proud papa 🙂  So, you can image all the thoughts going through my head when Amanda asked me to capture her natural home birth.  I was so honored and excited to be chosen to capture this amazingly beautiful moment, but as another woman, I had some worry for her as well!  Of course I was also a bit anxious that I wouldn’t be able to do the job well.  I had never photographed a home birth.  It’s kind of like a wedding.  You just have to blend in with the background, go with the unpredictable nature of birth, stay on your toes, and endure the marathon that it is!  And you know what?  I enjoyed every moment of it.  Amanda is one incredibly strong woman.  She stayed positive throughout the whole thing.  She never said a foul word to any of her amazing supporters (you know, like you see in the movies).  She asked for the help of Jesus, and I only heard her cry out once.  I will forever be in awe of this beautiful mama.  Her family will always hold a special place in my heart.  Watching this baby come into this world was a blessing- for her, for her family, for me, and I’m certain for everyone else who was there as well.  It truly felt like a right of passage that forever changed who I am as a person.  I wish that every man and woman in this world could witness such a beautiful sight.

I LOVE what Amanda has to say about her birth session.  This was such a special thing I can’t quite put it into words:

Heather photographed the birth of my daughter and was amazing! So respectful of this sacred event, and captured amazing images that I will cherish forever! She is so sweet, professional, patient with our little ones and so talented! Can’t say enough good things about her and her work!!

With Much Love,

Your Birth Photographer, Heather
